The Center for Disaster Management says that a total of 3,504 persons, members of 1,022 families continue to be settled at shelters owing to the recently experienced inclement weather.
These persons are placed at 77 shelter-camps.
Moreover, according to the latest estimates 20,771 homes have been completely decimated due to the adverse weather while 3,124 have been partially damaged.
Meanwhile the Department of Meteorology predicts a shift in the existing weather patterns commencing from next Friday.
Director of the MetDepartment, Athula Karunanayeke said that the shift may result in more concentrated spells of rain across several parts of the island.
