'Public have not opposed changes to constitutions' - Lal Wijenayeke

Chairman of the Public Representations Committee on Constitutional Reforms Lal Wijenayake, commenting on the results of the recently concluded local government polls, stated that the public in no way have opposed the process to make changes to the Constitution.

He further said that the public however voiced their opposition to the government’s failure to fulfill its many promises.

Wijenayake also said that the government must now find the principle reasons for the public’s rejection, and work promptly to address the relevant issues.
